JLB COVID-19 Relief Fund Update VIRTUAL Town Hall Meeting

12:00PM - 1:00PM

Last month, Jewish Long Beach established its COVID-19 Relief Fund, seeded with $50,000, to assist the most vulnerable members of our Jewish community in navigating this crisis. At that time, we challenged the community to match our $50,000 commitment and help maximize the impact of the fund on those in imminent need. We are pleased to report that, thus far, you have responded with nearly $25,000 in contributions, allowing Jewish Long Beach to make more than $45,000 in grants to local Jewish agencies, organizations, and congregations for a variety of purposes, including:

  • The purchase of gift cards and care packages for use by vulnerable seniors and families for food, medication, and basic supplies
  • Passover dinners and rent/utility assistance for isolated and needy community members
  • Counseling services
  • Remote learning tools and technologies for organizations providing remote Jewish education
  • Programming for Jewish college students
  • And much more

We would like to extend special thanks to the National Council for Jewish Women, Long Beach Chapter, which made a special grant to the fund to help us assist seniors in need.

Each week, we receive thousands of dollars in additional urgent requests for assistance. We urge you to continue to help us match and exceed our initial $50,000 investment with your contribution to the Jewish Long Beach COVID-19 Relief Fund.

Additionally, we are pleased to invite you to a special virtual town hall meeting, hosted by Jewish Long Beach President Laurie Raykoff and CEO Zach Benjamin, to update the community regarding our crisis relief and response efforts, as well as to take your questions on this and other topics.

The town hall will take place Friday, May 1, at 12 noon. Click HERE to register. Thank you for continuing to embody the spirit of tzedakah that exists throughout the Long Beach and West Orange County Jewish Communities, and we look forward to “seeing” you on May 1.

B’shalom,
The Board and Staff of Jewish Long Beach
